I just recently bought a used 2013 and was able to

1. find the person's first name just on the paired phone list.
2. Find his address using the saved home location on the nav unit
3. Know his complete Name because onstar thought I was him.

I thought about calling him and asking him about the car but felt it was probably a little too much. In any case make sure to delete all the information above and get the car off onstar.

Actually, it is a good idea to NOT program in your house as your home location at all. A better choice is to use a nearby site such as a store, church, museum, etc. You should be able to find your way home from one of those locations, but a thief wouldn't know where to go from there.

Not sure on a volt, but in my Jeep's uconnect system there is a reset option that I used to delete the PO's info. When I went to program my garage door to homelink I held down the first and third button for several seconds. The display then said something about homelink cleared. I'd imagine something very similar would apply to Chevy's lineup.

Last two cars I bought both had addresses and phone numbers saved. I'm willing to bet that the HomeLink for the garage door opener was still programmed as well. The evil / curious part of me wanted to drive by and hit the button just to see, but I resisted.

If I buy a used Volt I'm sure it'll make for three cars in a row that had potentially personally identifiable information on them. The Volt I'm looking at currently has addresses saved in the navigation, I haven't looked closely but I'm betting it'll take me to the POs house. If the dealer insists on riding with next time maybe I'll just tell the car to navigate to home and see where it takes us.There is still music saved on the HDD as well. I don't know if the Volt has the capability, but my current Jeep has photos of my wife and I on it as well. Jeep lets you use that stuff as sort of a background while music is playing. Be sure to blow all that personal stuff out when you get rid of your car, because the dealer certainly doesn't.
