Twice in the last two weeks my car has left me stranded in my driveway for 15-30 minutes, not turning on. I'd get in and press the START button. The 12V systems all come on (screens, radio, power windows, etc), but the 'engine' under the hood makes just a quick electric noise and nothing happens. Sounds kind of like a pump turning once. The car acts as though it's on, except the steering wheel stays locked and there is no READY displayed on the dash.
I've tried pressing the Mode choice to HOLD mode, to see if it would bypass whatever isn't working and start the engine, but it doesn't do anything. Steering wheel stays locked and it just says "hold" on the screen. The car thinks it's on, because if I get out while the screens are lit it does the triple beep "Hey, your car is still on!"
So, it's ON, but not READY... what gives?
The only thing that has worked (luck I'm assuming) is plugging in the car charger and trying again and again. Unplugging, plugging it back in, repeat a few times. Then, READY shows up, the steering wheel unlocks and the car acts perfectly fine.
Help? Any ideas? The car only has 3,500 miles on it. The dealer told me they don't have someone available until next Tuesday! They won't give me a rental car without first diagnosing it, which they told me "You'll need to drop it off with us Tuesday"
What the hell? They don't even have fleet cars with Chevy for problems that could leave me stranded?!
