Will this work with a 2017 Volt?

 

No, it will not. The frequency is different for the 2017.

 

So does that mean the receiver on the car is only able to communicate with a single frequency, or do you mean I can't mix and match between a 2017 sensor and 2016 sensor. The reason why I ask is because I bought a set of OEM Volt wheels from someone else that offered to toss in three 2016 OEM sensors as well for free (have no idea what happened to the 4th). I haven't actually looked at the stuff yet but I'm getting ready to buy some winter tires to get mounted and need to either fill in that gap by getting a 4th 2016 sensor, or buying a full new set of 2017 sensors...

I figure I'll also buy the tool that allows me to re-learn the wheels to the car since I'll have two full sets of wheels/tires and don't feel like heading down to the tire shop twice a year.

 

A 2016 TPMS receiver will only work with 315 mHz 2016 sensors, and a 2017 receiver will only work with 433 mHz sensors.

The part number (and frequency) is printed on the sensor (have a magnifying glass handy...the print is small). The correct part number for 2016 Volts is 13598772 (315mHz). The correct part number for 2017 Volts is 13598773 (433mHz). I got a set for my 2017 off of Amazon. Their photo, when expanded, showed that the sensors were made in the U.K. When mine came, they were made in the U.S. These are actual GM parts, not Chinese ripoffs. I mounted my winter setup yesterday. The sensor learning procedure went exactly as described in the Volt owner's manual and took less than two minutes, even though I was being careful.

 

The sensors are not on the same frequency. The 2016 are on 315mhz. The 2017 on 43mhz. They don't have the same part number. The 2016 won't work on the 2017. I bought my set of sensors on ebay.

 

Is there any way to tell the difference between 2016 and 2017 tpms off the wheel? I bought an extra set of LT wheels with sensors from ebay. I want to know if the sensors will work before I put the rubber on. I have a 2017.

 

"TPMS" stands for "Tire Pressure Monitoring System". Are you referring to the whole TPMS system, or just a receiver, or just a sensor, or what?
