Have a 2015 Volt with the original 12v battery. I've been running load tests every month and its declining health was starting to concern me. I hate getting stranded and decided to be proactive and replace it. Getting a replacement battery turned out to be a bigger problem than I thought, no doubt the result of supply-chain issues. In the past, I've always been able to pick up a battery for other cars at Costco but none of their stores within reasonable distance had one for the Volt. Thought about getting one from a local auto parts store but their prices weren't much cheaper than one from a local Chevy dealer. Having experienced installation problems with "exact replacement" after-market parts, I decided that going with Original Equipment (OE) was a safer approach.
A local Chevy dealer had the required battery (AC Delco EVLN2 AGM) in stock. It wasn't as fresh (Feb. 2022) as I wanted but I didn't have too many choices. Installation was pretty straightforward but I did have a problem getting the mounting strap back in place before realizing that the battery has a slot that it fits into, otherwise the battery sits higher and prevents the mounting strap from being properly installed. I shudder to think what other problems might have surfaced with an "exact replacement" after-market battery.
