I just replaced my original 2011 blades after over 88,000 miles with OEM from the dealer. Reason being they last a long time, they are low profile (out of your field of vision unlike some aftermarket ones) and they are aero efficient in the case of the VOLT.

I have used aftermarket ones before, on other cars of mine, but they never did last as long as the OEMs.

Review on the best wiper blades

These years we can see many manufacturers of windshield wipers, including the traditional brands like Bosch, and the new uprising ones. It is hard to tell which are the best wiper blades because it depends largely on individual's needs, yet we can tell which are the not good. From the feedback of users, Bosch ICON 26A is quite good. Other quality wipers are Michelin Stealth Hybrid Windshield Wiper Blades, ANCO 31-Series Wiper Blades and Rain X blades.

For a Gen 2 Volt, where are people finding the passenger side blade? I bought 2 of the Bosch 26OE because all the web sites I could find said they fit but they only fit the drivers side. It would be trivial change for them to fit both from what I can see but the blade bracket isn't symmetric and hits the metal tab on the passengers side.

The problem I'm having is that I can't find anyone selling the 26B wiper blade for the passenger side. And most of the web sties just say a blade will fit without identifying which side it fits on. Does anyone have a link to a blade they know fits the passenger side of a Gen 2?

Thanks,
TD

That's odd as I just bought 2 AC Delco blades from the dealer and they're the identical part # (26" for both). They've been working great for the 2-3 weeks I've had them so far.

OEM would be great if you think ahead and visit the Chevy dealer so you have one at home when you need it. Buying on-line I didn't find a website that stocked the OEM blade and had low shipping cost. I had good experiences with Trico's premium beam-type products on my other vehicles and they are available from Amazon from about $15 to $19.

The Trico website http://www.tricoproducts.com/Drivers/FindYourWiperSize has great installation videos which really made it a snap since I wasn't familiar with the Volt's "push button style" wiper mount beforehand. I use Rain-X washer fluid so in light rain at highway speeds I don't need to really need to use the wipers much. After about a month they don't streak or chatter and are performing as well as the OEM blades.

The michelin hybrids are flipable.

My preference though is to not even turn on the wipers and use a aquapel kit. I only use my wipers in heavy misting or to remove dirt or pollen or a huge gob of bug guts.

I got the Michelins from Costco (not sure what model) and they only fit the drivers side. Bought OEM for passenger. Kept the second one for Driver's side replacement as they usually don't last as long as OEM. I usually buy Trico for replacements but Trico has been bought out by another company and since the local auto parts company has also been bought out by a chain they only carry the parent companies products. I think the other local parts company might carry Trico but by then who knows where the market will be.

I bought the GM part numbers via Amazon and am well pleased.

When I looked on Amazon for the GM part numbers I could not find any sellers. Products offered and prices come and go there ...

I found Rain-X blades at Wally-World. Ok, except the piece that connects to the metal sticks up a half inch higher than the OEM! I was always staring at it! After a few months I took just the rubber blade out and slid it into the OEM blade (Yes, I kept it around). Now I'm happy it's lower. In the future I may just try to find just the rubber replacement blade.

FYI Michelin Guardian wiper blades don't appear to work at least not on my 2012 Volt

I have always purchased wiper blades from Costco including for my 2012 Volt. My last purchase of blades from Costco were Michelin Guardian. I struggled for a couple hours to get the passenger blade on. Both blades install fine on the driver side. Looking at the clip they provide it is offset I guess to accommodate the little metal tab that protrudes inwards on one side. Putting the clip in without the blade on the passenger side works but when putting it in with the blade attached the inward facing metal tab catches on the metal hole in the blade itself preventing the clip from sliding all the way in. The offset is on the wrong side on the clip and doesn't leave enough gap for the inward facing metal tab when installing on the passenger side. Unfortunately the clips from my previous blades are not compatible with the new ones. At least Costco has a good return policy.

I used the Michelin blade from Costco on the driver's side. They (OEMs are handed). I ordered a passenger blade (discounted) from my local Chevy dealer (that doesn't sell Volts).

The absolute best wiper blade is the silicone blade from PIAA. They last forever. BUT, they sell for $28 each:

Personally, I ordered the BOSCH 26OE Icon blades from Rockauto. They are as good or better than OEM.
