I thought I had remembered reading something about an available upgrade to the factory wireless charging not being capatable with iPhone 8. Can anyone tell me where to find it, a part number or anything? I have asked the dealer I bought my car from about giving me that in lieu of the pinstriping and 3rd brake light that they promised and then determined they could not install on a Volt. They have agreed as long as it doesn’t cost more than $200. Of course they don’t know anything about it so I need to get the details to give them...obviously they sold very few Volts over its time (about 2-3 per year) and still have one 2018 sitting on their lot. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanx in advance!

I believe this is it and that this site accidentally omits the 2018 Volt:

I thought about getting this for a while but decided not to since I have to plug my phone in anyway to use the apps on it with the infotainment system. We have to plug in to use Android Auto. Do you need to do the same with Car Play?

I recall that the 2019 has the wireless charging in the forward cubby. I was also thinking that a future salvage from a junked 2019 console might be better since the wireless location in the armrest is such a PITA.

This appears to be the wireless charger update, and the kit includes an adapter plug. Looks like a bit over 60 bucks from gmpartsdirect.

Part Number: 84526978
Link: https://www.gmpartsdirect.com/oem-parts/gm-module-pkg-84526978

Link to the TSB about updating it: https://gm-techlink.com/?p=9762
Although the TSB doesn't specifically mention the Volt, GM has used the same charger in most vehicles.

Good video covering the older chargers and the modifications needed (although it appears most people are finding removing just the magnet works better than removing the magnet and second "coil"): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u29igTCTdLM

Good video covering replacing the older charger with the new charger (without the adapter included in the kit above): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2lOzwlnbg0

I will also cross post on a longer thread about the wireless charging that is here 'iPhone-X and the Gen2 Volt:

Just a good recap.
