My iPhone 8 will not fit into the wireless charging slot. Is there another way to utilize the wireless charging feature on my Volt?

My iPhone X fits but doesn't charge so I'm not sure your 8 would either even if it did fit. I just plug in the USB cable to charge and access CarPlay at the same time.

The 2018 Volt should have the updated Qi wireless charger. Unfortunately the wireless charger that was included in older Gen 2 Volt Premier models will not work with the iPhone. If the phone almost fits then you might try removing the rubber liner from the charging slot.

This is the first thing to check. Is the phone and the Volt compatible? iPhones were not with the earlier wireless chargers.

Two options:
1. Get a compatible phone.
2. Use the USB method to charge.

Sounds like #2 is better since it will be on the USB cable and have full access. Not just charging.
