I have a 2014 Chevy Volt with 45k miles. My drivers window creaks everytime the window is rolled up. It happens a second after the window is fulled up and is driving me crazy. Someone said to clean the tracks and lube them up, well that did not work. The passengerside rear also does the same thing, anyone have any ideas?

Some have had this caused by accumulated dirt/dust in the window tracks. If you were being pushed and squeezed through a rough dry channel like that you'd complain to.

This is a GM thing not a Volt thing with the power windows squeaking as they get older.

My father has the issue on a GM minivan.

I had the issue come up prior to my warranty expiring and the dealer replaced the window and its motor under warranty.

Now that my warranty has expired, I'm not sure what I'll do when the issue comes up again (and it probably will)

My 2011 is over 6 years old, almost 95k miles. No window squeaking. When can I expect this to occur?

Did you say it happens *after* the window is all the way up and is no longer moving? If so, I would look into how the window is programmed to remember the full up position.

It happens a second after the window is fully up so it seems like when the pressure is being released from the window motor. No clue what it could be, I cleaned and lubricated the tracks and still makes the creaking noise. It sounds like a floor creak.

So i looked that the issue again and if i roll my window half way down and then pull push up/down on the glass i hear the squeak so it must be coming from the lift arm/motor not the tracks, ill have to pull the whole damn door apart to find out yay!

good morning!!!!
my volt did the exact same thing a few month's ago
our volts have a rubber track enclosing the window track now, where in bygone years,the window track was enclosed with a different material and a nice window track as well
my rubber window track actually attached itself to both sides of the window,making the squeaking noises as it was dragging across both sides of the window
I got an aerosol can of silicone lubricant and sprayed both sides of the windowtrack about halfway down the window.and continually operated the window to make sure it was well lubricated
this did the trick,and fixed my problem
this problem first started about a year or so after I bought my volt,so I guess a little preventative maintainance is in my future in a few month's

So I cleaned the entire tracks and upper track and sprayed silicone spray on the tracks and its still making the squeaking noise, ill have to tear about the door this weekend, will update with findings.....Thanks GM!!!!!

The good news is you have eliminated what seems to be the most common cause (and the most easily fixed) as the source of your issue.

So I found the source of the squeak, it was the lower rubber track the glass slides on, i sprayed a ton of silicone spray in the tracks both sides and the squeak is now gone. Its hard to believe that this could happen with a car with only 40k miles. My inner door handle, the chrome shiny plastic POS was also squeaking when i pulled the handle, i thought it was coming from the spring but it was actually the connection point to the pull cable, i put some silicone grease on the ball of the cable and reinstalled it an the squeak stopped.
