The volt is parked, off, finished charging, green light is flashing, the radiator area is whirring to dissipate heat, and the DIC (driver information center) is black, but glowing, so it is effectively gray. Any thoughts on why my DIC is glowing?

Mine does that too sometimes. I suspect it's running some background diagnostic or something.
A Volt that is turned off is still the most active vehicle I've ever seen, even more than the old Cadillac I had way back when

I suspect that the DIC display will turn on when one of the computers/programs is running. It doesn't show anything on the screen, but the backlight still needs to turn on.

I've noticed that walking up to the vehicle will sometimes cause the primary and/or center stack LCD back lights to come on, as well. I had wondered if I had not turned the car off properly but it seems to go out after a timeout so I have no been concerned.

Do you eat cheesies?
You must mean cheetos. And those don't cause glowing, just bright orange Oompa Loompa-like tan.

I don't think I've ever seen it glow if the keyfob is far away. But I've seen it glow on occasion when I go near it with the fob and it seems to "sense" me being there.

you didn't by chance have the remote on you at the time did you? I'm just guessing that perhaps the proximity circuit activated the DIC backlight.
My fobs were in the house about 20 feet from the volt. But the last time I checked my DIC was no longer glowing.

I am hungry for cool ranch Dorito's though. Sadly, we only have sour cream & cheddar ruffles and pizza flavored pringles in the house.

"Lights are on but nobody's home" :)

Computer is in stage 1 sleep. The car is "off", but the computer is still doing something that doesn't need user input (sensed a fob, got a remote start command, onstar is checking in, etc).
If you stand there long enough you'll see it go completely black as it goes to a deeper sleep.

Where have I seen that tan lately?

It must be a regional or national thing. 'Cheesies' is what they were when I was eating them. Concentrated salt, fat, and starch, all the good stuff, with extra food colouring. The marked bills of the snack world.
