I was just thinking about this a couple minutes ago when I set my brand new key down on the table. I put it somewhere where it won't get scratched up (God forbid I ever drop it and leave a dent).

Thing is, would it matter in 36 months when I return the car? Has anyone ever been asked to replace a key fob due to regular use.

What are some of the things I should expect to be charged for at the end of the lease e.g. scratched rims, marked interior, worn plastic buttons?

Hello The kit does help. The big hole in the system is when you turn the car unto the dealer the dealer inspection is about meaniless. It can sit for a few days or week until the inspector comes. Some have tried to avoid that by being there when the inspector comes, but do not recall it happening.
I am also in the referenced thread and had a somewhat neg experience. GM has a better rep. Many have had OK turn in
I have not heard of any problems with FOB use. Unless it gets lost then its alot.
Good Luck
