For those keeping score, I bought new snow tires for my volt in 2015 and have yet to see more than one big snow event per year after snowageddons 1 and 2. Historical thread can be found here

I don't think it's the snow tires that warded off the snow, but the location of my daughter's Subaru Crosstrek is a snow attractant as wherever that car is it snows in abundance. Boston has been pummeled with snow since she drove the car out there for college.

Well, it's official. She's been accepted and is most likely headed to Emory University for med school so the poor folks in Atlanta need to prepare for their worst snowfall levels in history. You heard it here first. The only thing that might stop her is if she gets a better offer from say Duke, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, or Mayo Clinic, and those seem unlikely since she hasn't been brought in for an interview at this late date. But anything can happen between now and the May 1st decision date.

Yeah, it has been pretty mild, and the record shattering 71 F in eastern Iowa didn't help yesterday (average temp around 30 F). Atlanta is due for a blizzard, been awhile since the 1993 one.

Congratulations on your daughter getting accepted at Emory, it is a pretty nice hospital and I hear a good school. Should be a lot warmer than Mayo in Rochester, MN. :)

Iowa, huh. One of the schools that offered her an MD/PHD was University of Iowa. It was her fav before Emory interviewed her last week and made the offer this week. Mom would love for her to be at UI, but Emory seems to be a better med school for her specialty.

It's going to be in the 60s in IL and up to 70 on Monday. Of course, we all know that climate change doesn't exist, because that's what the White House is telling us. Big brother is watching you...

Tell your daughter congratulations. Nice to hear she's on a great career path of her choice.

It does snow in Atlanta -- the elevation makes that possible -- but it's usually gone in less than a day. The big problem is a Southeast specialty -- "Wintery Mix", a horrible concoction of rain, ice, and sleet. Plus of course not that many have the right tires and few know how to drive in it.

Well those of us in metro Atlanta know we aren't out of the woods for a big snowfall / ice storm yet. April 15th is the last frost date so there is ample time
You are safe this winter. It's next winter that I'm projecting horrendous snow. My daughter's Subaru has brought snow everywhere she goes. I first mentioned it in 2015. Now it's happening.
