On rare occasion, (only 3 times in my 8K miles of ownership) I have heard a strange buzzer noise when I first open the driver door prior to starting the car. Is it warning me that something with the car is not right? I have searched forums and the manual and can't find anything about this. Has anybody else experienced this? Can anybody verify what it would be? It sounds like a warning buzzer of some sort, not a chime or horn honk.

When I heard the buzz noise yesterday, I started the car and drove without issue for about an hour. I received a message about needing to "service the tpms" near the end of my trip. Was it coincidence, or was the buzzer sound I heard before starting the car warning me about a potential issue? When I heard the buzz one other time, it was shortly after that that my remote was not able to be detected. Coincidence?

Now for a separate question: when a tire has a flat and it is repaired, does the tpms need to be recalibrated? The left rear tire had a flat a week ago, and a NTB shop fixed it for me. The manager said that he didn't have the updated tool to correctly reset the tpms, but after the repair was made, the sensor initially seemed to be working fine. However, yesterday (a week or so after the tire repair) the sensor failed and that is when I received the error message. The fact that it was working makes me think that it did not need resetting; but now it doesn't work, so I'm wondering if they damaged the sensor. I didn't spray any goop into the tire when it had the leak, so I know that it wasn't damaged that way.

Any thoughts about either the buzzer or my tire issue?

I don't know about the buzzer noise, I have not heard what you are describing on my 2017.
As far as the TPMS reset, the only time they need to be reset is if the tire/wheel move to a different location on the car so that the display can show you the correct position of each tire. There is no re-calibration of an individual sensor needed.

Regarding the tpms, that's what I thought...I was surprised that the manager thought that it would need to be recalibrated. Well, now it's not working at all for that tire...don't know why. I will get it checked out soon.

Regarding the buzzer noise, if nobody else has experienced it, I feel nervous that something else is possibly wrong with the car. It's happened 3 times, and it definitely sounds like some sort of an alarm.

Could you record the sound as it happens? Or is it too brief to whip out a cell phone to record? Just wondering if perhaps your buzzer noise is something we've all actually heard but just haven't described as "buzzer" noise.

The sound lasted about 2 seconds, so I'd have to have a recorder going every time I got in the car to catch it, assuming it ever happens again. The first time I heard it, it really startled me! However, as I already said, it's happened a total of only 3 times. I called it a buzzer, but it is a single pitch sound, and sounded like some sort of a warning...not a beep, horn, or chime. Maybe I could compare it to the type of alarm some clothes dryers make when they are finished with the cycle.

The comparison to a clothes dryer timer going off helps too. I'm guessing you're referring to the analog buzzer sound like following video at time 0:47:

That would be a very strange sound indeed. Sucks that's it's intermittent. I know it's bad wishes, but I truly wish it becomes more frequent sooner than later so you can have it figured out during warranty period. An alarm like that just screams future failure.

How loud is the sound and where is it coming from? I know there are a couple relays that click when you open the door after the car's been off for a while, possibly one of them is going bad and rattling as it actuates? Other than that, I can't imagine what it would be. A video recording of the problem would really help.

I didn't think much of it at first, but now that I know other people haven't experienced the sound, I'm a little more concerned. It's not quite as loud as the dryer buzzer in the video, but it is a similar kind of sound, and it sounds like it is coming from the dash/speedometer area. I don't know if I want to try to record it every time I enter the car, but that is probably the only way that I would be able to document it.
