Although we won't get the VW GTE in the U.S. (which is unfortunate) we will get the Audi A3 E-tron (in October 2015 supposedly). Regardless, here are some review of the VW GTE which folks might find interesting:

This one is from a person who owns the new GTD (Sort of a Diesel GTI) and did a test drive which I find interesting as he tries to determine if the car is a GTI with great economy and cool electric driving or an upscale 1.4 liter turbo car...

Two reviews from Fully Charged (note: he is a fan of the Golf)

One from last month:

Obviously, this car has half the range of the gen 1.0 Volt which will likely eliminate (and the Audi) from contention for many, but I think these cars have some interesting qualities.

I liked the write up about the driving experience. Electrics may be quick but they never feel nimble, likely because all that weight. Even the Model S never feels nimble and it has awesome acceleration. But if you think about them as uber luxury cars then they do feel about right.

The hits of the BEV world will have to have distinctive body styles. I think Toyota proved that when it couldn't sell the Tesla drive train in the body of the RAV4.

If that trend continues (hits having distinctive body styles), that doesn't bode well for Volt 2.0... I just watched the new Cruze video and it may actually look better than the Volt.
