Volt spotted Georgia

The fellow who sits next to me at work just told me he spotted a black Volt in Marietta Georgia on his way in to work this morning. He said it looks really slick with the wrap-around rear lights. He said it had an out-of-state licence plate although he did not recall which state.

Great! A coworker of mine spotted one on Spring Street downtown last week. Silver, so a different car than the one your friend saw.

I still expect that I'll be the first person in Georgia to have, well own, a Volt. Possibly tomorrow :)

What dealership did you order from?
First Volt In Georgia?

I arrived in Atlanta at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday December 21st after driving over 700 miles from Manassas, VA - where I picked up my Chevy Volt. I proceeded another 2.5 hours to Dublin, Georgia where it resides. I've got a really cool picture of it next to my 1969 Chevelle SS-396.
First Volt in Georgia? Maybe

I purchased my Volt in Manassas, VA outside Washington, D.C.. I Drove over 700 miles back to Atlanta, Georgia and then on to Dublin, Georgia. I arrived in Atlanta December 22nd at 1:30 a.m. and was in Laurens County (Dublin) by 3:30 a.m. I've had the Volt over a week and have used only 0.04 gals of gas so far. I've got a great photo of it next to my 1969 Chevelle SS-396.

Why don't you post the photo?:D
I am trying to post photos. It is very confusing.
Dublin? Off of I-16 is the middle of nowhere. Vidalia onions are the biggest thrill. ;) Now a Volt. You will be the center of attention.

Nice pics, all of them.
Beautiful pics! I haven't yet had the opportunity to take some good ones of mine. I might do so in the morning at a popular photo spot that has the Atlanta skyline lit up in the morning (the Park Ave overpass of Freedom Parkway, near Boulevard).

There's also a local dealer (Jim Ellis) who is running ads (and got some press) about buying a Volt in New York before Christmas and promptly driving it down to Atlanta. The general manager of the dealership was the one to actually go up to New York and drive it back, although I don't know when exactly he crossed into Georgia :) Supposedly they started allowing test drives of it today, although they won't be selling it (or any Volts) until Atlanta launches later this year.

I like your "First Volt in ____" concept! I may try doing something similar where I am.
It's really just a way for people to get in touch with me if they spot the car around time -- I have the URL posted on the car. It has already worked a few times over, having received a few emails who spotted it this week, and want to arrange to get a better look. Demo madness!
Cool!

Lyle, I respectfully request that you put in a new top-level forum area called "sightings."
Nice pics...thanks for posting those! I have a deposit down at the dealer ChrisC mentions above (Jim Ellis). I can't wait for the GA market to get Volts. Until then, I have to live vicariously through all of your pictures! :)
Or maybe a subforum called "Regional Discussions". Move the various threads there ... Texas, Michigan, this one, etc.

From what dealership did you purchase your Volt from?
For anybody in the Atlanta area, I will have my Volt at the monthly meeting of the local EAA chapter -- the "EV Club of the South". They meet on the third Wednesday of the month at Manuel's Tavern, so this Wednesday. The meeting officially starts at 6pm but that's just when people show up, place their food and drink orders, and start gabbing with each other. Around 6:30 or 7:00 someone usually gets the meeting properly started, although often there's no presentation and it's just a gabfest. Looks like tomorrow will be my gabfest.

The meeting room is way in the back, through a larger room, so just keep looking until you find a room full of EV nerd types :)

I plan to have the car parked on the west side of the building, and possibly plugged in to demo the charging behavior, although I live nearby and won't really need the charge.
