Gen 1 or Gen 2 ? I have it in my Gen 1 and it is great.

 

I have one and took it out. Almost never are the rear seats inhabited and the rest interferes with having a flat cargo area with the seats folded. (I also removed the rear headrests for improved rear visibility.) When it was in, it rattled though I understand there's a fix for that.

 

This is the rear armrest in my 2015 volt.
It is factory mounted on a metal frame, and it can be removed by a button quick release if you need to fold the seat down to haul anything

 

You can't just buy the armrest. The whole rear center console has to be replaced.

One thing that I make in the VoltShop is a cover for the rear console for folks that don't have the armrest. I don't have it on my website, but you can find pics in these threads:
