Actually, per the article title, it's the only US made car to receive the IIHS Top Safety Pick +. Other US cars got the Top Safety Pick sans plus, such as Ford Fusion and the Chevy Malibu, but do not have good or acceptable headlight ratings to meet the qualifications for a plus rating.
To qualify for 2017 TOP SAFETY PICK+, a vehicle must earn good ratings in the five crashworthiness tests, an advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention and an acceptable or good headlight rating.
