Just saw this article on InsideEVs.com: http://insideevs.com/ontario-canada-boosts-electric-vehicle-incentive-program-up-to-10000/

The Province of Ontario is revising the rebate structure for EVs from $5000 - $8500 to now $6000 - $10000. Apparently, the Volt will qualify for the max $10,000. No word yet on when the changes will take effect.

I always seem to miss out. Bought my 2016 Volt in Oct/15. Should be by model year bought, not when you bought it.

You and me both ... I miss out by 13 days after taking delivery on 28th October. asked about the 2016 models rather than dates but got nowhere (no-one really knew)
Modernized EVIP Program - Ontario Canda

A note for existing and potentially new EV vehicle purchasers in ONTARIO....

In 2010, the Electric Vehicle Incentive Program (EVIP) was introduced to support the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), to reward early adopters, and to create market demand for new technology. To further support the goals of Ontario’s Climate Change Strategy and promote increased EV adoption, new EVIP program parameters were developed to make EVs even more affordable. The new EVIP is effective February 10, 2016.

The EVIP has been modernized to:

make EVs more affordable;
provide additional incentives for vehicles with large batteries and greater capacity to carpool;and
to cap incentive amounts for luxury vehicles.

Of special interest to folks here, is that the 2016 Volt incentive has been raised from $8,500 to $11,877 ! Good news!
See less See more
And any purchasers of 2015 Volt that purchased their car (NEW) between Nov 10, 2015 and Feb 10, 2016 should get the difference back ($11,877 - $8,500 = $3,377 !!!) back.....eventually, from the Ministry of Finance.

Its all on the MTO website.

Only need to confirm who the 'official' rebate recipient is. I signed my rebate over to the dealership..at time of purchase.

Hopefully the MoF has the common sense to say the rebate goes back to the 'purchaser' with no red tape!
Sorry...I meant 2016 model year

:mad::mad: I took delivery on November 2nd, 2015, I guess I miss the boat.
not sure it would have any impact but considering writing to the minister and my own MPP asking they review this decision and change it to specify all MY2016 deliveries (cant be many up to now that are not already getting the rebate) and only impose the deadline date for any MY prior to 2016. Think this would be a fair compromise although anyone who just bought a 2015 might disagree with me (understandably).

I am happy with the car, and the price I paid but a little bummed that as an early adopter not only do I not get the niceties of the 2017 (I can live with that as I probably would/could not have waited for ACC) but my resale value took an immediate additional $3K hit the moment the government announced this increased incentive.
I just checked again and now they have the rebate split by model, the Premier now get $12,747 in Rebates !!!

and my 2017 just landed in the dealership woot!

Thanks for the heads up on the updated incentive table. I just barely made the cutoff since I took delivery in December. Can't wait for the cheque!
The 2016 ELR qualifies for $13,000. Nice.

Sent a message to Mr Del Duca through the MTO website and also externally to his parliamentary email address. Did get an automated response that it was received from the MTO site, now waiting for the boilerplate letter rejecting the suggestion ;)
I am from quebec. Is there a way i buy in ontario and move the car to quebec. Claim back HST and repay quebec tax ?
