Just saw this article on InsideEVs.com: http://insideevs.com/ontario-canada-boosts-electric-vehicle-incentive-program-up-to-10000/

The Province of Ontario is revising the rebate structure for EVs from $5000 - $8500 to now $6000 - $10000. Apparently, the Volt will qualify for the max $10,000. No word yet on when the changes will take effect.

So my dealer handled the rebate, I guess I have to speak to the dealer to get the extra cash?

It sounds like they'll send you a cheque for the difference as the EVIP incentive recipient.

"If an eligible electric vehicle was purchased/leased between November 10, 2015 and February 9, 2016 with a MSRP less than $75,000 as of the date of purchase/lease, the incentive is based upon the new February 10, 2016 incentive values. Where there is an increase between the old incentive amount and the new incentive amount, the incentive difference will be paid automatically to the EVIP incentive recipient."

Man it gets worse !!! I felt bad when it was backdated to January 1st ... but now its November 10th ... I picked mine up on October 28th !
Good news for those in Ontario in the "waiting room"

look like we're going to get more money back from the Ontario government

Minimum will probably be in the $11,000 range Vs. $8,500 and could be as much as $14,000 depending on the battery size criteria.

Good news for me since my 2017 is on order :)

Interesting. That's quite a bit more than US.
Additionally, the leasee qualifies for the same amount as purchaser.

Decided to call MTO and see if there was a rationale for the date .... Once I had explained the new incentive to the person on the other end, and directed them to the updated page of their own website .... I was told, and I kid you not .... "perhaps you should have bought it in November instead" !
Aaany idea who we should speak to about this date, mine was first G2 in Ontario, Oct 14 !

I just tweeted out to @OntMinTransport as the phone staff are clueless but as early adopters I get the feeling we are going to be s*** outta luck !

More details are starting to emerge:

http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/vehicles/electric/modernized-evip-faq.shtml

• increase the current incentive range for electric vehicles from $5,000 - $8,500 to $6,000 - $10,000
• provide incentives linked to battery capacity ranging from 5 to 16 kilowatt-hours
• provide an opportunity to receive an additional $3,000 incentive for vehicles with a battery larger than 16 kilowatt-hours
• provide an additional $1,000 for vehicles with five or more seats
• cap incentives for vehicles priced from $75,000 to $150,000 at $3,000
• vehicles with MSRP over $150,000 not eligible

The Volt qualifies for a rebate of $11,877
I'm not 100% confident in the Volt values listed on the website

all things being equal the 2016 volt should get $1,000 more because it's a 5 seater unlike the 2015, yet the 2015 has the same credit amount.

I think someone at the MTO got a little overexcited to publish and did not double check the figures.

Or they did their homework and looked at the back seat ;)

I agree. I think there are many errors in the tables. As you say, the Gen 1 and Gen 2 Volt shouldn't be the same.

In general I can't make any sense of how the incentives for BEVs are calculated.
I ordered mine on November 9. Picked it up Feb 10, 2016. :(

A single day!

However, the final revision of the Purchase Agreement says Feb 9, 2016. Which date do I go with?

I also signed the rebate application at the dealer during the pick up time.
No worries they should be sending you the higher rebate

You should be entitled to the additional incentive since you purchased (paid and took delivery) November 10 or later.

I think what will happen is that MTO will use your address information from the incentive form to send you the additional amount.
Yeah. I was confused by what my purchase date was. I contacted the salesman from my dealer and he sent me copies of what he submitted and it looks like I should receive the difference. Super happy! :D

So do you know if they go by purchase agreement date? Or when the order was placed? I'm kind of in limbo right now. I placed an order sometime in October of 2015 but took delivery in December. Latest purchase agreement date was also produced in December. Here's hoping!

Edit: Also, since the dealer submitted the forms for the incentive on your behalf (I'm assuming the original $8500 was off the purchase price), you are still technically the EVIP recipient, not the dealer, correct?
Purchase agreement date. They submitted the final purchase agreement dated Feb 9, 2016.

Correct about me being the EVIP. The dealer's info was filled into section C of the forms which states that they were applying on my behalf and my name was in section A as the applicant.

Looks like you're in the clear as well. If you want to be doubly sure, your dealer should be able to forward you a copy of what they submitted.

OK, BC - now that the CEV for BC program is going to require new funding it's your turn to step up to the plate!!!
Just received my incentive from the Ministry for the L2 EVSE and installation (max $1000 back). Took them long enough. Almost 3 months. Ha! I emailed them and they told me that if my car qualifies for the new increased incentive (they couldn't verify it at the moment), it will eventually be processed and sent to me (not the dealership) and no need to reapply. Cool.

Hopefully other provincial governments can follow suite. Ontario's truly becoming a leader in pushing for the adoption of EVs and PHEVs.

I still don't fully understand how the new incentives are calculated. So many mistakes and discrepancies.
They've published the program guide now.

http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/vehicles/electric/electric-vehicle-incentive-program.shtml

Looks like the reason that 2015 and 2016 Volts get the same incentive is that it maxes out at 30% of MSRP.

They appear to have capped the incentive based on the price listed at gm.ca ($39,590), which is actually inclusive of freight, A/C tax, and a $500 credit.

Calculating the way they say they're supposed to, based solely on MSRP exclusive of options, taxes, PDI and freight, the incentive should actually be $11,517 instead of $11,877 ($360 less).

For now we'll call that close enough for government work. It's possible the incentive will be reduced by $360 in the future, after they correct the calculation.

Let's hope we all get our $3,377 cheques before they realize the error.
