The Province of Ontario is revising the rebate structure for EVs from $5000 - $8500 to now $6000 - $10000. Apparently, the Volt will qualify for the max $10,000. No word yet on when the changes will take effect.

I hope those that trade in the car in 2-3 years keep this in mind before complaining about the $10,000 "hit" on resale value.

According to that story Volt should get $11000 because of 5 seats. A Bolt may get $14000 depending on details not disclosed about the maximum battery size.

look like we're going to get more money back from the Ontario government

Minimum will probably be in the $11,000 range Vs. $8,500 and could be as much as $14,000 depending on the battery size criteria.

Too bad I bought mine in December. Unfortunately still no incentives for used EVs. Even the rebate for charging stations doesn't apply to those of us with used cars. Ministry website also still says that the HOV lane exemption ends in June.

Used Ev's already got an incentive when purchased new, giving another incentive for used wouldnt make any sense and wont happen.

Sorry I wasn't clear. I didn't specifically mean rebates. I was thinking more of a tax exemption or something. Yes, if there were rebates for used vehicles, what would stop my friend and I from selling it back and forth to each other, and claiming the rebate?

As for the lack of a rebate for the charging stations unless you purchase new, I'm kind of baffled. When I called the ministry to ask why, all I got was, "I have no idea. That makes no sense."

You may wish to ensure the 2017 Volt is on the eligible cars list.

I got caught on that in BC. By the time they added the '17 Volt to the eligible list, the fund no longer allowed pre-orders (cars had to be in stock). Luckily that won't be an issue for you.

In BC we are waiting for next week's Budget ~ Hopefully they follow Ontario's lead

A tax waiver for used plug-in registration would be a large benefit to the cause.
But I guess it depends on if the book value is already being punished by large rebates or not.
Last I checked there wasn't as big a difference in Canada as in US. Cars were going for reasonable rates.

I'm also hoping that BC's Scrap-It program keeps getting funding, I figure I can save almost a couple thousand more dollars by buying an old beater to take advantage of that.

I just today received confirmation that my 2017 Premier has been built! The BC CEV Fund is holding steady with enough funds to provide about 116 Volt purchasers with $5000 grants. If the shipping isn't delayed too much, I just might get in on the remnants of that fund. If not, I too will have my fingers crossed while watching the Budget announcements. The Scrap-It program is running on fumes too, as it is required to expire March 31st or when 1000 cars are crushed, whichever comes first! The New Car Dealers Association has been making strong appeals to the Government to rejuvenate both funds without a drop-out that would kill the momentum of the Clean Air Vehicle Program as happened last time. BTW, you must have owned and have insured your beater for a continuous 6 months prior to registering with the Scrap-it Program and be approved within 10 days after purchasing a CEV to collect the $3250.
Buy that clunker now!

Not sure which fund you mean...$5000? Hard to believe the Dealer was unaware ~It is NOT a rebate. It is point of sale reduction!

Right now that fund only pays out to cars delivered, not ordered. That is why Abbyhawk is hoping for quick delivery.

Oh yeah and that is only in BC
