Yes you can. I buy long string versions of tape mounted SMD emitters and use them for model kits all the time. If you look closely they usually show a cut point on the tape itself.

My point is, yes you can cut them 3 spacing, but if you do you will cut down on the last segment of the sequential turn segment. 2 long segments then last one being shortened.
The strips are built with 3 leds in series with a current limiting resistor, so they must be trimmed in that segment length.

Kinda weird though - my strip is 24" and doesn't exceed the ends of the housing. Yours is listed as 23" and spills over what looks like about an inch and a half. That would have me trimming.

I kinda like the diffusor tube though. I may try that next time.

Only over laps about 1/2". The entire strip is not noticeable with the hood shut during the day. Of course white diffuser and a white vehicle helps.
The diffuser gives the vehicle a look of a newer vehicle.

I'd really like to implement this on my 2017 Volt, but haven't been able to locate connections for turn signal and DRL. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

on Gen 1 Volts, on the driver side, remove the screws that hold the inner fender on the front side, inside the fender. There is a 6 pin connector that contains the parking and turn signal wiring. I would guess there is a similar connection for the gen2's that may also include the DRL.

Thanks for the description of the wiring on the Gen 1. It turns out the Gen 2 doesn't have the inner fender as described, but the 6 conductor connector was helpful. It turns out that each side has such a connector just under the headlight. Unplugging it and testing voltage shows the passenger side turn signal to be a green/purple wire and the DRL a purple. The driver side turn signal is white/yellow and the DRL is blue/white. The driver side is much harder to get the connector unplugged, but easier to work with as the wire harness is longer. The passenger side connector has better access, but a very short wire harness.

Ultimately got both sides installed. Had to use the clips as the silicon content of the diffusers prevented the double stick tape from being secure.

The passenger side looks awesome, the driver side seems to be defective. It works, but is quite dim compared to the passenger side. I did pre-test both strings, but not at the same time so did not notice the huge difference in output.

Also, those connectors are secured with little red plastic keys, both of which I dropped and the Volt ate. Does anyone know what they are called and/or where I could source them?

Assuming I can get the defective part replaced, this has been a fun little project and even my wife who doesn't have ANY interest in such frippery was quite impressed by the look of the string on the passenger side.

OK, the vendor was extremely responsive, received the replacement today, installed it and it looks very good.

Now, my wife is considering getting some for her gen 1 Volt - looks like I'm going to have to do it again, LOL

I ran the wires over to the driver side fender area where there is a connector containing 6 pins with both right and left turn signals and parking lamp signals. I removed the radiator shroud to run the wires inside a long heat shrink tubing.
Here is a picture of the driver side fender connector inside the fender.

The 6 pin connector is in the foreground at the bottom of the picture.

I've attempted this on my 2014, and while the driver's side works fine, I'm having a heckuva time with the passenger side. I have found the DRL wire but, for the life of me, cannot find the turn signal lead. Can anyone give me any suggestions or help?

if you put a diode in line to both the DRL and the side marker, the white eyebrow can be on for both when the DRL or the headlights are on. Wire-OR them.
