Volt Date Wrong--FIXED!!

My '13 Volt's calendar seems corrupted. It may have always been like this, since I normally leave the radio on and don't see the "Volt" logo screen. It always wants to display the day after the day it currently is! If I reset the date it will show properly until I shut the car off. Wait an hour or so, start it up, and the date will be tomorrow. And get this, even if I set the date a few days in the past, it will come up with tomorrows date! And continue to stay a day ahead. How does it know the date? My onstar subscription is inactive and I don't leave my phone in the car. Strange.

Pulled F-9 Onstar fuse, problem solved! Reinstall fuse, date corruption returns. I can set any date/year now and the car will retain it. My question is, why is the Onstar module doing this, and would it correct itself if I re-activated my subscription? (don't plan to) I did like having the system operational though, as I believe they will notify somebody if there is a crash or airbag deployment.

This is just a thought, but do you suppose that since this is a "leap" year, the extra day - Feb 29th - has confused the clock/calendar feature? Maybe not being subscribed to OnStar won't let it sync and keep the time and date corrected.
Also, for some reason it doesn't trust your corrections to the date and keeps going back to what it thinks the date should be.
Just my two cents...

Strange. It must be automatically updating somehow. And maybe the date reference is associated with the wrong time zone, like GMT for example. Check your settings on the myvolt website or for your XM subscription or any similar spot that might have a time zone setting.

Be aware that the GPS radio and most of OnStar doesn't turn off just because you're not paying them money. And GPS can automatically set clocks and calendars.

I wonder if this might be one of those dealer settable items. Sounds like your car thinks it is in Japan, the other side of the international data line.
Karachi. Would fit because the 12-hour clock would look fine, and the date part would be ahead all afternoon and evening.

As part of the onstar upgrade fiasco, we determined that clock is set by the onstar module.

The date is in sync with the clock, and I am able to set the clock and have it keep the change. I set the clock to 11:59pm and in 1 minute the date changed. But date changes will not be saved after vehicle shut down. It will always return to 1 day after the present day.
Some time ago the year changed itself to 2012 I think. I was able to correct that, but not anymore. I disconnected the 12v battery recently too to install WOT's coolant temp sensor bypass. I guess if this is Hal's only glitch I can give him a pass. At least the heat works flawlessly! "You cannot set the date Dave."

Negative. And no joy on the leap year theory. There is a Feb. 29 in the car's 2016 calendar. The car knows where it is, pressing 'info' button reveals correct coordinates for my location. Think I might pull my onstar fuse and see what happens. Maybe this is an onstar conspiracy........"You cannot set the date, Dave."

My final post on this topic. Unfortunately I will have to settle for wrong date, as the Onstar fuse also feeds the hands-free phone. Without the fuse I can hear the called party, but cannot speak to them. This little detail became quite obvious today. Onstar's server must be on the other side of the International Date Line! Without an active subscription it probably doesn't know where the car is.
