We have a 2016 and a 2017

I brought my 2016 Volt to the dealer due to a rattle from the left rear. Lo and behold, the dealer found that I was missing a shock absorber bolt. They replaced it and the rattle is now gone.

We then brought our 2017 Volt into the dealer Tuesday because it started making an ominous clanking from the front left with any bumps in the road. The dealer informed us that the brake caliper was missing a bolt. He has ordered the bolt and we'll be getting our car back tomorrow

These findings are really shaking my faith in GM's quality control... these are some pretty grievous faults and that missing caliper bolt could potentially have ended up with a disastrous failure .

Anybody else with similar findings?

I definitely share your concern. Those are both integral to the safe operation of any car. Glad they got it sorted, but strange that it would happen to you on two separate cars. Hopefully this isn't a common event and you just happened to get "lucky" with two cars missing important fasteners.

That's just unacceptable, but I guess I need to knock on wood, my 2017 built in June 2016 has been rock solid. So hopefully you were the odd ball on the line.

I wonder if someone is trying to prove a point about the line moving too fast. "See, I told you that your trying to move that many cars on the line was going to produce bad results!" Robots! Where are the robots?!

2017 - Heater Core Coolant Pump was left unplugged at delivery time in july 16

- discovered when it got cold in December and after a new fw update that detected the heater was failing - dealer plugged it in and all is well.

Freaks and Geeks

OMG! What a hilarious clip... and painful to watch. We've got a 12 year old and are constantly reminding him of why he needs to do things right the first time.

Usually these conversations are at the dinner table too.
