Volt Airbags Manufactured by Takata

Due to another needless death, the number of Takata manufactured airbag related recalls will be increased next week.

CORRECTION:
Fortunately, it appears that all 2011 through 2015 Volt driver airbags are manufactured by General Motors:

Good news for Volt owners.

Takata is the supplier of the Volt's steering wheel assembly. Bad news for Volt owners. Takata has lied about defective airbags, and has had to recall airbags it manufactured to replace defective airbags. They can't get it right.

GM is not an airbag manufacturer, that just means they put their name on it. There are only a few big airbag manufacturers worldwide. No idea which is in the Volt

Millions of airbags deploy every year, not many incidents. Granted, it is a lottery I wouldn't want to "win".

Skully helmet

I will have to start wearing this helmet:

It features a heads up display:

the helmet itself has been put through serious safety tests. It’s made of a lightweight, aerodynamic tri-composite fiberglass shell to put it in the “ultra high performance” category

There's an interesting video of one of the MC "safety" helmets systems being tested.

While the production crews and camera are set up, the test rider pulls right in front of an oncoming truck, and gets nailed.
