I see that Chevy has updated their web site to now include the 2018 Volt....

Doing a quick scan through the "build your own" page it looks like one can get a number of the features with the LT as options that were only previously available with the Premier. Nice!

I'm certain there are some plum crazy challengers and chargers out there. otherwise we'r talking over a decade without purple cars

Confirmation the 2018 is in a place holder status right now. But geez GM couldn't you have added a few more paint options? Maybe GM will surprise us in 2019.

when I do the "build a car" and then execute a search for local inventory that matches the build, I'm actually getting hits for MY 2018 vehicles. However, when I go to the actual dealer web sites, none have any on hand.

Might I be seeing dealer-placed orders?

Yes. Once they place the order is shows up as inventory.

That's a shame -- early reports showed that the 8-speaker bose system would be standard on the LT, but this was later questioned. Looks like it is definitely not the case.

Oddly, you can't get the brandy with cajun red, green mist, or kinetic blue. Not that I'm crazy about those first two colors--I've seen the cajun red in person and it has too much a "candy apple" look for my taste. I actually thought the siren red was one of the better red colors I've seen in person.

I'll need to see green mist in person, but it doesn't look that different on the website from the citron green or perhaps the older viridian joule on the early Gen 1s.

And as previously announced, you can now get the drive confidence package on the LT trim level with Rear Park Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Side Blind Zone Alert with Lane Change Alert. But only if you order leather seats. Why????? If I wanted leather seats, I would just get a Premier.

I don't see "Rear Park Assist" as an option or standard feature on Premier. Is that because "Automatic Parking Assist" does all of that and more? Can someone explain the difference?

Rear parking assist uses proximity sensors in the rear bumper to help you as you back up so you don't hit another vehicle or a support column or wall. There is a display on the Driver Information Center that shows the relative distance, as you get closer an audible alarm starts to beep until the sound becomes a continuous alert sound.

Automatic Parking Assist, when installed, will guide you when parallel parking or when parking between two sets of parking space lines in a perpendicular space on either the right or left of your vehicle. You must always be in control the vehicle by applying the brake pedal as you back into the space, the Volt steers itself into the parking space. Parallel parking works well in my experience, the few times I have tried to perpendicular park using Automatic Parking Assist the Volt ended up not being square in the parking space but then again I did not hit anything either.
