Nice job Eric! Any claim that the Volt is a sales flop are at odds with the facts.

Very nice work.

These lists always beg more questions. Here's three:
  1. what cars have sold MORE than the Chevy Volt?
  2. Where did this data come from?
  3. What does it look like in Canada?

Yeah, but a lot of the Volt "sales" are really leases and we know that those don't count because..... well, I don't really know why they don't count but Mr. Michaels said so and he is a libertarian and so he must be right because they are wicked smart.

and that was YTD, which includes very slow early year sales before California HOV option and when inventory was very low. With a monthly comparison of August sales, the Volt beat out a lot more models.

Thanks for posting this list and thanks to Eric Miller. (No I am not Eric Miller.) It motivated me to read all the "called out" (?) responses to this outrageous Forbes piece. It was very heartening to see that every (called out) response blasted the article and/or the author. Although we can't know for certain, many of these responses were posted by conservatives who were tired of the right-wing hit job against the Volt.

Awesome facts.

However, facts are too confusing as they tend to conflict with a Volt basher's predetermined conclusions.

Before Volts were sold, or when they were just starting to be sold, these people could make up junk and not get called on it. Now they get called on it. Doesn't stop them, but they get their pants pulled down in public.

I found it interesting that the Volt out sold all hybrids except Prius, Camry and Sonata. I guess no one really wants these other hybrids.

Jay
Unlike some hybrids, the Volt is not a slower "eco" version of another car.

OMG! Please keep this secret or else.....

Faux News and it's oil sponsors will come out full force again.

GREAT JOB!!! Facts once could disspell a falsehood. Getting harder all the time with the likes of the foreign owned Faux News. Wish Murdoch would take his anti-American network the firetruck out of our country.

The readers responding to that piece really took Mr. Michaels to the woodshed. Several of them also called into question the veracity of Forbes as a publisher of supposed news.

I think this will mark a turning point in the frequency of hit pieces on the Volt. At the least, it will be so for Forbes, who will probably think twice before allowing a piece of garbage journalism like that one to escape out their tailpipe again. At some point, the Volt bashers will see that theirs is a losing battle, against the groundswell of success and popularity of this automotive masterpiece.

For example, I'm still waiting for a Volt fire in the real world. Yet as the millions of miles mount up day after day on the American roadways, nary a report is heard of a Volt fire. With each passing day, those wing-nut torch-bearers are looking more foolish. They must be starting to cringe now.
