In the trunk on the left side, there's this small hatch/door. I've never used it, but yesterday I noticed that it was open. Seems that it's held by a latch (knob) and a few tiny tabs. I'm not sure if one of the tiny tabs (along the mid/top left of the door) broke off, but the hatch doesn't close anymore. Even if you turn the knob to lock it, it still hangs open.

Bad design? Common problem etc?

Show it to the dealer when you bring the Volt in for service. It should be covered under the 36 month bumper to bumper warranty.
