How the Volt doesn't run into this problem.

The Volt has liquid cooled power electronics, which would cover this problem, I assume. If the Prius doesn't, they may have to change the software to provide less electric power under some circumstances.

 

The Prius electronics are liquid cooled too even though the battery is air cooled.

 

TOYOTA = RECALL

 

Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch, LOL.

there are only 50,000 volts out there- All the power electronics are liquid cooled. That doesn't mean there won't be recalls, but if something is going to happen only once in 200,000 cars, then there aren't any volts out there yet with that isssue, where there would be 10 toyota hybrids....

 

I don't think the Prius would be coming to a complete stock right away anyways even if their hybrid components shuts down since they would be hypermiling in neutral..

 

Actually, if the Prius electronics fail, you are left with very weak brakes due to lack of regen.
