Kamel's in Australia. Battery market is different there, in ways I don't know. If that market says "drop in replacement is reasonably priced compared to a difficult-to-source G47 AGM", I'm not gonna say "don't try it". Here in the US, G47s are easy and not that expensive, so changing away seems dumb.

I agree. The AU model is only 45ah and costs twice as much. The others cost as much as 6x a Delco AGM. The advantages vs cost for average use in a Volt isn't there. If the AGM was crap then I could see seeking an alternative, but in general, these batteries seem to last fairly long.

I only linked to the drop in replacements as someone in the thread did not know they were a thing, I wont be buying something I can make, LFP cells are fairly cheap, I can either make a pack that has equal capacity and is around 1/4 the weight, which is a perfectly good reason to do it, it means I can add some other gear to the car without compromising some range, or I can build a pack that is equal to the weight and is roughly 4 x the capacity, which would suit me if I was to use the car for camping, as it means I would not have to have the vehicle powered up all the time as a larger capacity 200+ AH battery would probably run my large camping fridge and all my other crap for quite a few days, and I need only turn the car on if the battery is starting to drain.

And yes the battery market is different here, no issues with the battery being stuck in 0° C or F here, where I live its like California almost, but I get that others will have that issue, and it does explain why they went with the AGM, as for our market, this battery type is only found in premium cars, and is not an "off the shell" battery, It took me a week to find one under $300 and it had to come from around 4000kms away to get to me, the other ones that were closer, were even more expensive, and when I can buy 13.5 AH single LFP cell for $12 AUD each, you can see its more viable for me to make a really nice battery, I make packs for everything else, so I may as well do one for the car, I also think it will hold charge longer vs the AGM as I killed the previous ones from letting the car sit too long and they drained flat, and they really don't like that.

That's quite a difference. It is relatively easy to get the properly sized AGM battery here for around $160. I would imagine that AGM and LFP batteries have different charging profiles. Can LFP handle a 15v desulfation cycle?
