That article is, suprisingly, sweet music to me. After electricity gasoline/diesel is the second most established and pervasive energy distribution network available to the consumer (natural gas does not get to many of us in the South). So the Volt fits in very nicely with the impending challenge. Use the most convienient energy distribution network with the currently cheapest energy source as your normal car fueling method. When needed, seek out the second best network to get some backup liquid energy (albeit expensive).
The next step is for all of us to pitch-in a bit to get coal emmissions scrubbed better. Finally, lets get some compatible liquid energy replacement really flowing that does not compromise the world supply of food stuffs.
