I know this isn't Volt specific, but this will likely get noticed here vs. a geography specific subforum (mods - move as you see fit). Anyway, I don't have any specifics as the TERp website hasn't been updated as of yet, but Texas had a $2500 rebate a couple of years ago that did not get renewed...until now it appears. I assume the "rules" will be the same as last time (i.e. tiers, leases are eligible, and Teslas are NOT eligible since they are not "sold" in Texas). Some details here:

Thanks for sharing and hopefully they will keep this going for a while. To me promoting EVs makes sense from an economic perspective because almost all the "fuel" is locally sourced which helps the state's economy.

So only Ford and GM quality because Texas will give incentives for "America" not for "Japan" or "Korea" produced EVs?

The initial program hadn't taken effect when I got my Volt but I was able to get the additional $2500 for my Energi. The turnaround was pretty fast too. It saves a lot of time and hassle to print out the paperwork and have the F&I person fill in the dealership requirements while one is signing all the rest of the paperwork. They knew nothing about the program and I was the first one to do it with them back in 2014.

The initial round ran out of funding fairly quick since leases qualified.

I just read the bill, and it looks like TERP (Texas Emissions Reduction Plan) who managed the program the first go around has been dissolved, and that now the grant program will fall under Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. TERP looks to have been a short term program that has ended. The website has no details at this time... stay tuned.

I was able to receive a grant, $2500, on my 2015 Volt, and hope to receive again. My wife has a 2017 Volt and I may replace my 2015 with a 2018 Bolt.

Texas resident here that purchased a 2017 Volt in 2016... am I pretty much boned here since I bought in that dead window where no incentives existed?

Glad they are bringing it back, but crap in a hat it sucks missing out on free money because they were dicking around for a few years.

I have no idea, but occasionally these things are retro-active. I would get a copy of the bill and read it over very very well.

Congrats to those in Texas hoping to get this rebate. I'm not holding my breath that IL can get their act together to reinstate our EV rebate. Apparently we haven't had an approved budget for 3 years now. I'm not sure which is worse, two ex-governors in prison or a governor who can't with with anyone in the state senate so nothing gets done.

I would guess the reason for encouraging EVs is meeting air quality standards in the DFW and Houston metro areas.

"In India, the government recently set a goal of having only electric cars on the road by 2030." Really? I went to the Tata Motors website and they don't show an EV or hybrid. Lots of work to do in 13 years.

I called and talked to someone at TERP. He confirmed the $2500 will happen, but they have to develop the program and rules etc.. Looking at about September. I suggested (meaningless I am sure) that they consider where car is registered, not where purchased just in case I have to get one from CA or a Tesla for examples. I also told them that when it was offered in the past, they ran out of money quickly, so hopefully will be done right and transparent. Likely holding off until Sept or later at this point anyway.
