Layoffs are a common result of mergers. There is nothing in the article to suggest that this was a "bailout", and in many ways a merger of Tesla and Solar City made a lot of business sense. They share some common target consumers.

Agreed, no need for 2 HR directors, 2 security leads, 2 lead admin managers, 2 marketing directors, 2 sales VPs, etc. Dozens is nothing. When big companies lay off 20% of their workforce, that's when you know there's real trouble.
