With the need to show increased Model 3 production and deliveries in Q4, why is Tesla sitting on these cars?

If you read the blog posts as I do these folks are dying to get their cars. So why have these units been sitting for weeks? Why can't they be delivered?

50 or so cars doesn't seem like a launch event. I'm guessing that they have some sort of defect and are waiting on parts. It's not so much stockpiling if that's the case. It's more like production hell.

Model S production was held up at one point because of a carpet supplier.

Maybe because they do not have batteries for them. Just because there is a problem with battery production is not a reason to stop producing cars. The battery can be added when they are available.

I think this wold be an absolutely horrible idea. Seems like it would lead to a huge array of problems.

But now at least 27 additional Model 3 vehicles were spotted at the location last week.

Something about the word "stockpiling" doesn't seem appropriate here.

Tesla had produced only just over 580 Model 3 vehicles as of mid-November, according to a source familiar with the matter.

Such as? There is only one version and they have to be shipped from Nevada anyway.

No doubt there is a push to deliver a modest amount in Dec. GM also had a modest amount for the Volt and Bolt in their Dec's.

Recall GM pushing to get Volt deliveries in Dec '10. I got mine in Feb '11.

The difference was GM didn't have 3 or 4 hundred thousand people waiting for the VOLT or BOLT...
