Tesla-Commissioned Report Says Automaker Is Vital To State Of California

Just stopping to take that title into perspective for second.......

.....Anyway, yeah I'm sure it's a big help for a state with a sh*t economy, high taxes and massive homelessness. I'd really hate to see all those employees lose their jobs. Not sure why Tesla had to pay someone to point it out though.

5 billion you say? Okay, I'll take your word for it. So that would be about 3 billion in tax revenue, right?

Musk might want to reconsider where he manufacturers the Model 3. There's a reason all other car manufacturers have left California.

Ask the State of Texas how much the petroleum business is worth for its economy. You can even ask the Bushes as the past presidents.

California was 5th highest in 2000 as well. Except SAT scores were higher, poverty was lower, median income was greater, and cost of living was lower. Los Angeles is 25% below the poverty line not allowing for the higher rents.

California was 2nd in the 1960's.

Ask the state of California how much the petroleum business is worth to its economy. The San Joaquin valley alone has been pumping it out for over a hundred years and puts out over 400 thousand barrels a day.

Over a century later, the San Joaquin Valley still produces a lot of oil. In fact, the Kern County part of the valley in 2014 had 44,518 producing oil wells, with another 2,098 producing wells in Fresno County. Historically, about 54% of all the oil produced in California has come from the San Joaquin Valley, but The valley for the year 2014 produced about 74% of all the oil produced in the state. Furthermore, oil produced from the San Joaquin Valley in 2014 represents about 4.8% of the entire United States production, and about 0.5% of the total world oil production for the year. The valley ranks behind Texas, the Gulf of Mexico, and North Dakota as the fourth largest oil producing region in the United States.

China has already been eating our economic lunch for years. The tariffs are a big stick negotiating tactic that may go away while improving our economic position. Theft of intellectual property has been my pet peeve, as just about every new innovation appearing here is duplicated in China within, it seems, weeks. That said, I admit to liking Harbor Freight stuff when "good enough" is good enough.....
