Essentially, your out the door price is all you will ever pay for your Tesla except for electricity and depending on the car, that may even be included.

Part of the argument is that insurance companies are not lowering insurance costs for a much safer, easier to fix/maintain vehicle. They might even be self insuring their product.

Seems like an interesting concept.

I think it's not a bad idea. Any Chevy you buy comes maintenance free for two years; any Cadillac comes with maintenance free for four. But it seems a big deal if you expressly include it. So no cost to you really but seems like it's a big deal to consumers.

They could do a deal with an insurance company and make a markup on that as well.
