Newbie Volt owner here. Picked up a 2014 for $7k in excellent condition with 130k.

My office has free Tesla charging stations. Can I plug in with an adapter? If so, can you guys recommend one? This is the connection from the Tesla charger.

The casing is broken. I wouldn’t trust that cable until checked out by an electrician. Maybe not even then.

That said, there are adapters that will allow a car with a J1772 plug to use the Tesla Level 2 wall chargers.
There are 4 chargers and this one was open, now I know why lol. I will not be using this one.

Can you recommend a good adapter to purchase?

They're all pretty good; Lectron makes one if you want to find something with a brand name on it.

That's the one I have. Got it as a Christmas gift this year, now that our daughter has a Model X and the Tesla level 2 EVSE at her home.

The only caveat with it is that you need to wait 5 seconds after plugging it into the Tesla EVSE before you can plug it into the J1772 port. I don't know why, and it isn't really explained in the literature. Even then, negotiation takes quite a bit longer than it really should before the Volt starts charging.

I also use the Lectron brand adapters. I haven’t noticed a 5 second delay when plugging it in.

I use it to charge my MINI SE, works great.
Thanks everyone. Based on reviews and recommendations from here, I order a lectron adapter which I will keep in the car.

The adapter is NOT for use with the direct current super chargers. It is ok to use with Tesla “destination chargers” ( 120/240 volts AC (alternating current )).
Understood. I am only using it with a destination charger.

My local dealer tells me the connector adapters will not work with all Tesla chargers. He says they will work with 3rd party manufactured chargers but not with Tesla manufactured chargers.

Not true. Tesla makes superchargers that are DC fast chargers and they are incompatible with the Volt. Tesla also makes destination charging stations which can be found at hotels, workplaces, and rest stops. These destination charging stations are simply Level 2 stations that are Volt compatible with the adapter.
