Just wanted to say hello to the Volt community. I like others on here have come over due to the Vw TDI buy back program. We are waiting on VW to take our Passat TDI back and in the meantime i decided to pull the trigger on a Volt for my daily driver. We replaced the Passat with a Jeep SRT8...but thats a different story/different forum :)

My Volt is a 2013 with 30k miles on it. White exterior with black cloth interior and looks like a basic trim model. I look forward to learning this vehicle, its capabilities, and being part of this forum. What really drove me towards a Volt was a test drive which was a pleasant surprise. What drove me towards a test drive is the possibility of doing a round trip work commute on electric and charging it at work for free during my 10hr shift. I could possibly be driving this car for free (energy cost wise) back and forth to work. That intrigues me similarly to the past 8 tdi's I've owned for commuting purposes.

First items I'm addressing on the vehicle is an alignment and then an engine oil change. On a side note; are their regional and national car meets for Volt owners? Im in the Portland Oregon area and wouldn't mind meeting up with fellow Volt owners/enthusiasts.

Funny... turning in my 2009 Jetta TDI next Tuesday. I have also replaced mine with a black 2013 fully loaded except front parking sensors. As soon as work gets me charging I will have very little fuel on my daily commute.

VAG really screwed themselves with this. On top of dieselgate they only have an e-golf and a hybrid Jetta, not a midsize like the Passat. though I would have loved the Volt, I needed the rear seat space o traded my ALH Jetta for a Malibu last month. Same mileage so far, after 1500 miles.

You guys south of the border are lucky, there is no buy back in Canada otherwise my wife's golf TDI would be going back and a bolt would be taking it's place.

FWIW, I returned my Golf a few hours ago. Once I got to the dealership, the process took about 10-15 minutes. The lead salesperson remembered me and my car and, upon learning I'd gotten a Volt, started extolling VW's yet-to-be-released next-generation electric vehicles. The chance of my buying another VW is slightly better than a snowball's chance in Hell, but I told the salesperson I'd consider taking a look when I'm done with my Volt. I'm sure it must be disheartening for the dealers to see us tromp through and return the cars we bought not so long ago.
