google "leather seat redye" and see just how simple it can be done if you have the nerve, patience, and tools. I think it would be a lot less hassle. the stuff permanently bonds to leather just like the initial factory coat...so there wouldnt be any undoing it unless you were to then redye it back to white which may take a lot of layers...but thats an entirely different discussion.

weekend project. unbolt seats take them out...tape the accents away from the rest of the seat, dab on initial dye then air brush the nest 2 coats....bam...black accents. again...if it were me.

The white accents were one reason I bought my Volt! They really brighten up the black interior. I've a friend with an all-black interior in his Volt and it seems much darker in there.

I understand--that's exactly why I'm asking. I love it in my current Volt but want to upgrade to a newer Gen 1 and they discontinued the two-tone seat accents after '13. I would rather see how much of a P.I.T.A. this is before making a deal--or making such a customization part of the deal I make. If I can't customize it minus big $$$$, then I may just keep my '13.

Please do keep us updated on how this goes. I absolutely love the white seat accent (apparently I'm in the minority, since it was cancelled so quickly). When I was looking at Volts I thought I was limited to 2011/2012 for those seats. Would definitely be interested to know if a change-out on a later Gen1 (2015) would be relatively simple/inexpensive. Thanks.

You could just go to an upholster shop and get a quote. Get a diamond tuck leather interior while you are at it.

Definitely. GM was being very, very creative too with the colors in the early model years. They had "graphics" in some of the door panels. They had a "lime green" accents interior that looked unexpectedly good. Plus the spice red! It seems ceramic white was more popular and I'm glad I went with it because it is such a stark contrast on the dark interior. I get compliments on it all the time.

This is one of the biggest appeals of the Gen 1 in my book. Gen 2 is like driving the present. Gen 1--driving the future. As odd as that sounds...
