Those surveyed just don't get it. I know it says it was explained to them, but when somebody says to Joe Regular guy "Which do like better, 125mpg or 40 something-something +10mpg?" which do you think he'll pick? 125 is better than 50 right? Because it is impossible to quantify exactly how many miles per gallon each individual is going to get with their E-REV on a regular basis, researchers just fall back on the extended range mileage of about 50mpg. This way they can better compare it to the plug in Prius type car without complicating the question. What would happen if they phrased the question like this; "Which do you like better, 125mpg or potentially 1000mpg?"
