My 2013 Volt is making an odd sound while charging. Sounds like a fan or something. Car hasn't been driven in 7 hours. Never heard it before. Sound familiar? It's been warm today, temps in the mid 90's. Any word on this ? Thanks

Sounds normal to me. Mine will run radiator fans while charging in hot weather, and I've also heard the a/c come on during charging. The car will do what it needs to keep the battery temps in the happy zone.

Given the ambient temperature, I'd suspect the car is circulating coolant to stabilize/reduce the propulsion battery temperature. It will do the same thing in very cold conditions but in that case it will be warming the high voltage battery. I've heard this with my car also, and the noise didn't go on for very long. It is a normal condition in that ambient temperature.

This is why GM recommends keeping the car plugged in. It can use wall power to cool the battery if needed to keep it in it's happy zone.
