This is a 2012 Volt with 135,000 miles on it. It was in a minor front end crash. I bought it from salvage and repaired all the damage we found. It has been driving great, no other problems, other than a little bit of a clunk noise on bumpy roads, which I am assuming is maybe a sign of worn lower ball joints in the front suspension, or worn struts, or both.

But now it has started making a short low frquency "creak" when you start and stop. It almost sounds like rubber rubbing or shifting against something for maybe a half second each time you start or stop moving.

Has anybody had anything like that happen on theirs, or have a good suspicion what it could be? I am guessing it may need new lower control arms. But I hate to just start replacing expensive parts without knowing whether they are really bad.

Haven't heard anything like that so far. Sounds ke you need to get it on a lift to do a physical check of the suspension and steering components. Good luck!
