So i just got the Volt and i am not very familiar with the noises that are normal and that are not :) so before i go to the dealer is this a normal sound? it sound like it is coming from the front of the car and it is kinda like growling for 2 sec than silence than growl again and than silence this happens for about a min or two and than it stops. The only time it makes this noise is after i press the power button to turn off the car.

I also hear a click noise when i am braking (but i think that is normal) it only happens once and it is not there when i accelerate only each time i press the brakes.

Other than these two noises the car is as silent as a dead mouse.

Does the growling noise from the front of the car happen after you plug it in? If so, then most likely it is the thermal management system (tms) activating to cool/heat the battery as needed.

Where is the clicking noise coming from? Does it sound like it is coming from the driver or passenger side front wheel? If so, you may need to have your dealer check the axle bolts. Most likely they are loose and need to be either tightened (less preferred) or replaced (most preferred).

The click is likely the normal sound when you press the pedal down far enough.

The first noise you describe sounds like the brake booster, but that would normally not be running once the car is off. Only on first start up and after using the brakes. Perhaps it started when you pressed the brake to come to your final stop and it was running as you hit the power off button?

The growling noise is regardless of the charging cable as i said it happens every time i park the car and turn off the engine. So i have not even had time to go outside and plug the cable in.

Also i thought you had the clkick noiuse axel bolt issue if you heard two clicks one on accel and one on braking?

What year model? 2012 and 2013 had a brake software update to address the clicking when brake applied. I dont have the PIC.

Can you take a video/sound recording and post?
If it's normal, we should be able to identify it instantly.
