Hey there folks!
Wondering if anyone has had success with a DIY solar panel setup on their carport with a Gen 1 Chevy Volt?(2012) (My estimated mileage is usually around 32-35 EV)
Little Backstory & Objective:
Purchased a new home with no garage, but the driveway does have the capability to have a single car port installed - with direct sunlight throughout the day! Part of this project is to help with resale value down the road, and to maximize potential of the car port itself.
With a little research the main problem seems to be the capability of level 2 charging, forcing us to go level 1.
Is there a setup that would allow me to get full charge in around 3 days time for around $5000-9000, or is this not worth the $, time, and effort? Most of the pre installed ports with solar panels range for around 30-50k.. which just hurts to think about.
I usually take advantage of free charging at my work when being in office is required. This is simply a “can it be done efficiently question”
