So the 2019 is coming and it has a few interesting updates. Faster charging, new infotainment system with a new power app ( eke out every EV mile possible.) and automatic engine-assisted heating system to be deferred until much lower temperatures (-13 ˚F / -25 ˚C) for more all-electric operation.

so my questions is Does GM care about updating the current owners or do they just move forward and ignore the past.. Yes I'm a little bitter as my Chevrolet Avalanche could use some very simple Bluetooth mods (loose the "Call ended" suffix every time siri gives you a turn directions for example. and when I asked about that, when it was 2 years old, I was told by the young service manger "not for a vehicle that old"

So what's your thoughts?

I think the answer is, it's not going to happen. The capability is limited (certainly no OTA updates like Tesla), and for GM, they still have hardware pieces that are unique for a particular software function and so they are not able to be updated (e.g. the radio from 2016/2017 to 2018). As for the faster charging, that will absolutely not happen since it's a whole different charging module.

When the '19's and their parts are available I would ask your service manager if the parts are interchangeable and if so, would they consider upgrading without voiding your warranty. But be happy that you are still driving a current model...at least for another year or two.
