I think the peanut gallery of armchair quarterbacks should put their money where their mouth is, and start their own car companies, if they are so smart about the auto industry. Tesla and Fisker started with only a few million, and gained funding as they demonstrated progress. Let those who think they can do better put their own skin at risk.
Jason is correct in that this is not a good way influence the company you own shares in. There is an elected board. You should exert influence in those elections. Those members and the management need to be allowed to make the business decisions. They are the ones with the best access to information to be able to make an informed decision. You can petition the board and even seek a consensus amoung your shareholders. Perhaps you can bring about the discussion in an annual shareholders meeting, but the board and management should be free to make the decisions they were elected and hired to make.
