I bought my 2012 with 15,000 miles in May 2015. Everything was good for about a year, but in May 2015 I came out to a fully charged battery and the error message "Service High Voltage Charging System". Took it to the dealer who did the whole fill coolant and check the system thing, and then tried to charge me $180 (another story).

A week later, the same "Service High Voltage Charging System" error came on and the dealer then found a tiny leak in the battery coolant reservoir. They replaced that and refunded the disputed charge from the first visit.

A month later, the same "Service High Voltage Charging System" error came on and the dealer decided it was the charge port and replaced that.

A month later, the same "Service High Voltage Charging System" error came on and the dealer said they did some type of update to the system, but asked that I start bringing my charging cable with me.

This week, the same "Service High Voltage Charging System" error came on and it's currently sitting at the dealer waiting for service.

Each time this has happened, it's been after a night of full charging, the Guess-o-meter range looks normal, but the error message is on. The coolant doesn't look low any of these times (even the first time). It's also happening nearly exactly 1,000 miles apart (now at 25,000 miles). It's really getting frustrating, because I love everything else about the car, but the time at the dealership is starting to add up.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I did some searches on old postings, but most seem to be related to the known coolant level issues.

Isn't that your problem? Read those threads carefully, it's well known dealers have trouble pin pointing the culprit, a bad coolant level sensor. When it fails intermittently they blame other stuff. There's even a solution made by WOT to prevent this.

You should post on one of those threads not start a new one on same issue.

I wonder if it's related to the voltage your car sees at home, trying to isolate an error that could be outside the car itself. Do you have the luxury to charge away from home for a period of time to see if the problem still persists?

I say again, the "Service High Voltage Charging System" message will not be triggered EVER for an actual charging problem.
EVER
It is 100% associated to an indicated low coolant or something wrong with the coolant level sensing system (the actual DTCs stored would determine which)

A problem with the charging system itself will turn on the MIL (check engine light) and possibly accompanied by the "Unable to Charge" message.
So the dealer replacing the receptacle is obviously grasping at straws.

To the OP if you can scan the customer copy of your work orders, (hopefully with the DTCs listed, but I suspect P1FFF and P0AE6) we can probably sort out what's been going on.

In any case now that it's triggered and they appear to be covering it under warranty you can let them work through it (likely telling you they needed to reprogram HPCM2) then afterwards you might want to consider replacing the coolant level sensor yourself (using the replacement part we designed) and never have to worry about this BS again.
