I noticed that XM is currently advertising $30 for 6 months, introductory price. That seems lower than the previous $50, IIRC. Might be a good deal for those who would use it.
Still too much. I don't pay for radio broadcasts, especially with commercials :)

I agree. I was surprised that some channels have commercials. But most of the music channels seem to be commercial free. I personally don't subscribe. I listen to podcasts more than broadcasts. However, for people that do a lot of long distance driving, I can see how it might be nice. Lots of commercial free music and you never leave the broadcast radius. For a long-haul truck driver, it would be a necessity.

6 for $30 is fairly common in my opinion. What aggravates me is that, because the Chevy radios are XM (Not Sirius, even though they are one company) for the Select package they offer at that price, Stern is not included. In my Ford, for the same 6/$30 select pkg, it is. Makes no sense at all. Grr.

I ended up getting a 2 month free trial for my '12 somehow. Just expired again earlier this month.

Personally, I like the service very much; however, just like TV, no one should be forced to pay for services they don't use. These services should be charged by only checking a box to pay for which channels you want and use. For example, with satellite radio, we only listen to "The Message" which is a Christian Channel that plays contemporary Christian music. TV, for us, has become practically useless other than the local news and Hallmark. As soon as I find a way to stream hallmark for my wife, I will drop Dish TV. We do have the mostly music package which is the very bottom package, but we are still paying for many channels we don't use.

They are bundled for a reason. They get revenue from all channels for commercials that nobody watches. And then they bundle a DVR so that you can fast-forward through commercials. If they went build-your-own model, they would have to charge more.

The bundling gets even better if you try to go bare Internet with no video or voice. Bare Internet costs more than the bundle.

The "commercial free" channels advertise themselves 15-25 minutes out of the hour. SXM calls this station identification. I call It commercials.

I'll buy when they can play music 24/7 one song to the next, without bs and when they just offer a plan for that service a straight $5 a month or so without the BS fees and "royalty" bs that effectively doubled their advertised prices. None of the we'll auto renew you at extortion level pricing unless you cancel. Just stop trying to screw people to profit and it'll happen.

Until then they can piss off.
