They'd sell more if they actually delivered. I've had one on order since first week in Aug. Current estimated delivery is end October. The dealer blames GM for the delay, but my suspicion is the dealer isn't that interested in worrying about one already sold.

No, the dealers can't GET them - the stories are legitimate. I know a few people who have been told the wait now exceeds 6 months. To add insult to injury, the GM dealer where we bought our Volt (which is by no means a small dealership by any stretch of the imagination, at that) told us that they only got allotted 2 (!!) this year and both were sold before they even left the factory.

Something is completely botched up in the supply chain when we keep hearing all these stories about how Bolts are sitting unsold on dealership lots in the USA and the inventory is swelling, but people can't get their hands on them here for the life of them. Those numbers could easily be MANY times higher if there was actually cars to be bought, but a lot of people get discouraged when they hear they may have to wait 6 (or more) months for delivery and they just buy something else instead.

Given our drasitically higher price of gas here, once people grasp the potential savings better, electric cars will take off quickly here IF they're actually on the lots!

I should have been clearer, it's a Volt I'm waiting for, not a Bolt. Since I ordered, other dealers in town seem to have them, but I got a good trade-in value so I don't want to try to cancel and go elsewhere. Of course, I guess I'm putting more miles on the trade-in, so in the end the dealer's losing out on the wait too.

I ordered a 2018 Volt Premier on October 7th and was told that the build would start sometime in January 2018. My dealer will be keeping me up to date as to the build.
I ordered one with black exterior and black/brandy interior.
Added both driver confidence packages and adaptive cruise control.
Since I will be taking delivery probably closer to February 2018, what are the best Winter tires to get?
Thanks in advance.

When Quebec legislated the zero emissions quotas to automobile manufacturers for 2018 they will be piling up on dealer lots in Quebec with discounts just like in California. Volt sales will take a beating when GM actually makes the Bolt available in QC on the car lot.

I've heard people say Michelin X-Ice are good. I like BridgeStone Blizzack's personally (had them on my old Ford Probe and they were amazing).

I just took delivery of my Silver LT 2018 Volt. Base model, no options. I love it so far, it's amazing!

You do know that the manufacturing plant where the Volt is produced will be shutting down on October 20th until at least Christmas? There were other earlier news articles that said also in January for 3 weeks production will be idled due to swelling inventory of the vehicles produced at that factory. It's really bizarre though. There is some demand in Canada for the Volt and dealerships are struggling to get them. In the US there are over 5000 Volts sitting on dealer lots unsold (probably mostly in California) and they are offering steep discounts on them. I've read upto $3500 USD off MSRP. I even saw one advertisement to lease a 2017 Volt for $99 per month....crazy!

Anyway, here is the link:

(sorry the board would not allow me to post the proper URL, but Google:

Dealerships won't budge here in Canada on the Volt MSRP because they have such a hard time getting Volts. I was lucky in that my dealership had ordered 3 spare Volts so I only waited about 3 weeks to take delivery of mine. But I was flexible on colour and options. I didn't really care what colour or if I got an LT or Premier model.

Keep us updated on your vehicle delivery. You will love the Volt!

I?m happy with my set of Michelin X-Ice Xi3. They?re still low rolling resistance.
