The guide wire that comes with kit has a sharp edge, be sure not to scratch anything with it (maybe tape the exposed end with some electrical tape. That seems to be about the worst problem so far.

After owning my volt for nearly 4 years, although the self illuminated port seems cool, I can't see paying more and spending time to install it as being worth it. If it happened to come on the car I bought, so be it.

I considered adding this but discovered that if I leave the driver door open I have enough light from the interior lamps to see what I'm doing.

After four years of plugging in at least once a day, I can do it in pitch black dark. Just place two fingers alongside the socket and guide the plug home.

I found that I enjoyed the installation project, and I find it convenient and I like having the light there.

Often, I cover the dash light (blinking sets off the dash cam), or visiting some places, solves the neighbors helpful calls to see if something is wrong, because of the flashing light. The side view is perfect at that place, where I can see it from the window, but not the other folks.

I can also plug in dark, but with the light, it is easier. I was glad I did the upgrade.
