I just got my Volt last week and temperatures here in Michigan are starting to get a little chilly. I've tried three times to get remote start from the OnStar app to work on different days, and each time it fails. Remote start via keyfob always works. It's starting to feel like Nissan CarWings.

Anyone have similar issues?

Call onstar from your car and ask for tech support. They can reset or do what ever they think is needed to fix. Many have had the same problems initially and have had to get onstar to reset stuff to make it work. Usually, once they get it working, it stays working.

You could also try the MyVolt.com website and that works most of the time for me.

Does the app say that the command was processed successfully, or do you get the red text of "remote start failed" (or whatever exact phrase) from the app?

I experienced this several times last winter when I would get the red text "remote start failed" message and most (but not all) of the time if I used the other option to update the car's status, it "woke up" (for lack of a better term) the connection and then the remove start would work.

Again, the above is if you get the red "remote start failed" notice, but if you are getting the message that the command was carried out successfully and the remote start did not occur, that's probably a different issue than the app being flaky.

Did it ever work? Does the app display data like tire pressure? Is this the OnStar branded app or the myChevrolet app?

Sounds like OnStar is not fully activated.

Hi kubel,

We can definitely look into this Remote Start failure from the app further and help get this fixed. If you could send me an email at [email protected] with "ATTN OnStar in the subject line, we can move forward. Please be sure to include your account number within that email.

A couple months ago I switch from the RemoteLink app to the MyChevrolet app as suggested by Onstar support to resolve some connectivity issues. MyChevrolet has worked perfectly for me up until this weekend. I was having problems refreshing the vehicle status, but I did get the plug in reminder text. Just cleared the app data and logged back in again, all is good.

mychevrolet app works 95% of the time. I do updates about 2-3 times a day (my wife drives the volt) to check mpg, tire pressure, etc. i have tried locking/unlocking, start/turn off, locate vehicle all functions worked great when i tested it.
