I have been building my Volt on Chevy's site but the red color does not seem to be an option. Anyone notice that?

The trump administration has gone overboard. Eliminating red as an option on all cars, removing all references to climate change, and proposing alternative facts. There have never been red cars, all of them are purple.

Funny, I bought up the Volt build and price, and the default color of the car in the picture was red, but it's not an option in yeh color picker below. What a boring set of colors. We need to add green, purple, orange, and yellow.

A hollow victory for blue. This is no way to win. Not a fair red vs blue.

Green - hell yes. My 2014 Lime Rock Green Stingray. Oh GM killed LRG after a one year run.

I still don't understand why you replaced your vette with an equinox. That was a gorgeous color on a gorgeous car. If it was me I would have held onto that for the rest of my life.

Yes, I saw the same thing. The thing that surprises me even more was the availability of Citron Green! While I don't mind this color, it was not that well reviewed here.

Can't speak for him but as an Equinox owner, well leasee, and former Vette shopper, forget the price/payment, look at insurance and wear items those expensive tires...I brought my Equinox to pepboys for their "$19.99 oil change special" which was $24 after all fees and taxes, but if I owned a vette, I wouldn't be comfortable with bringing it to either pepboys or any discount oil change place...

I'm sure he can easily afford it and is far wealthier than I its just I've seen this exact scenario play out with friends (more so with Camaros) former coworkers; they bought a Chevy and were expecting Malibu maintenance costs, replaced the expensive tires before 20K, received a speeding ticket or two and decided to move on...

Until you see it, it's a hard colour to judge. So what looked good on paper, looked, not that great, live. For me it was the blue, red and black. Since I'm cheap, I went with the black. Funny thing is I was thinking of ordering the Citron Green.

Cheers,
Tross

Huh. The GM Fleet web site doesn't show any changes in availability. I wonder if it was just a temporary screw up by their web developers? Doesn't make sense for them to discontinue one of their more popular colors.

Yes, bazinga is retired and can afford it. He has mentioned on more than one occasion that he's eyeing a Tesla model S next.

Every time I see a youngster in a mustang, Cameron, or charger/challenger, I can't help but think they're in over their heads in payments and just don't know it yet. Then when the light turns green I mash the accelerator and surprise the dickens out of them.

Well I was originally done with vette's after I sold my 2007 Z06 that I tracked, but when GM released the C7 in that green I fell in lust all over again so I ordered one. But then age and injury suffered in Viet Nam made life with a low slung sports car almost impossible. BTW new vette's are dam near bullet proof and I easily got 30+ mpg with it. Simply amazing what GM can do with the old Chevy SB motor.

And now while I lust over a Tesla I'm wondering if that's the best use of my resources. My 2017 Volt is operating at 99% all electric (VoltStats = Von Zipper), so for the vast majority of my every day use my Volt operates exactly like a Tesla. So I'm on the fence.

Bazinga, I wasn't aware of your service for which I gratefully thank you. Your sacrifice is really appreciated.

I missed the buildup and deployment in Viet Nam; my service was from '60 to '63 in Germany. I visited a couple of enlistees I got to know in boot camp who had gone into the infantry and were stationed probably 200 km south of Bremerhaven, where I spent most of my time while there. I was flabbergasted at how they had bulked up with muscle which resulted from 300 out of 365 days on maneuvers. They looked like linebackers! Things were serious at that time.

I was in the Army Security Agency and didn't have physical activity. I weighed 145 lbs when I enlisted and 148 lbs at discharge. I'm almost an inch shorter, 40 pounds heavier and a whole lot older. I'm lucky enough to still get into and out of my 2014 Volt relatively easily. I'll be making another cross-country road trip this year in the Volt. It is a great road car. Because of all the mileage in CS mode, I'm currently (groan) 26% all electric, 74% ICE generated electric with 45,500 on the odometer.

My son is leasing a 2016 Premier Siren Red with the Brandy/Black interior... a real beauty!

Apparently this is an actual plan by GM, there are 6 fairly recent listings on cars.com for Citron Green. Maybe they will come out with an even better red maybe Red Rock? I love that color.

wow, the remaining color options are just dreadful. I like the jet/brandy color interior as it is monotonous as all black. Still debating leasing a Volt, not sure I want to own it.
If I had to pick from those aweful colors, I'd plastidip it. Something like this...

As for leasing vs. buying, leasing is usually one of the most expensive ways to operate a vehicle. I'd buy and only consider leasing if you are a multimillionaire and this is a tiny percentage of your world. And even if I were a multimillionaire, I'd be buying my dream list of cars like Jay Leno. Rumor has it that even with his millions, he is a cheapskate and haggles for a great deal.

That's right, I do remember you posting something about the low seats making it tough for you to be comfortable. I'm sure you'll let us know what that Tesla is in the driveway...then hopefully you can stop with all the trade-ins. I don't plan to get another car unless one of the existing ones breaks down beyond repair. And current GM cars are lasting far longer than the POS cars they made in the 80s. My 2004 CTS and 1995 Suburban are still rolling strong,

When we were Volt buying, we were originally thinking kinetic blue. But when we saw the red in person, minds were changed. I could also have easily gone for the silver ice, but SWMBO didn't want another silver car. (We also already have two white cars and a black car - so those colors were out too.)

Most of the cars Jay buys seem to need a lot of work. He does look for ones that are as original as possible.
